What is a “fellow”, anyway?

During your visits to University Reproductive Associates, you may meet one of our physician fellows who are a part of our health care team. Fellows are fully trained obstetrician-gynecologists who are pursuing advanced training in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI).

University Reproductive Associates, in association with Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School, is one of only a handful of infertility practices around the country approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology to train fellows in our highly specialized field. The combined extensive clinical and surgical expertise of our physicians and our commitment to scientific research allow us this distinction. Fellows who train with us are consistently among the best and brightest obstetrician-gynecologist graduates who join us from all over the country.

So what does that mean for our patients? You are always under the direct care of our expert attending physicians, but having the fellows as part of our health care team truly enriches our clinical practice. The fellow may assist with morning ultrasounds and may also assist with surgical procedures, since many surgeries require more than one person to perform. Because we teach on a daily basis and are responsible for training future generations of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialists, we constantly prioritize offering our patients the latest cutting-edge technologies. Our practice is based on the latest medical evidence. Our research programs ensure that we play a part as innovators in our field. And at the end of the day, it’s all about delivering top-notch, personalized, and compassionate care to our patients. That is our very highest priority.
